Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In a major intelligence-led operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Haryana Police, have busted a sophisticated terror module linked to the Pakistan-backed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) near Delhi. The operation culminated in the arrest of two individuals, identified as doctors, and the recovery of a massive cache of arms and explosives, including 360 kilograms of highly inflammable material, in a rented apartment in Faridabad, within the National Capital Region (NCR).
The arrested suspects have been identified as Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, originally based in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, and Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, who was residing in a rented flat near Al-Falah University in Faridabad.
The Coordinated Raid and Arrests
The breakthrough came following the initial arrest and subsequent interrogation of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather in Kashmir. Based on the intelligence gathered from Rather, investigators tracked his accomplice, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, to his covert location in Haryana.
Joint teams from the J&K and Haryana Police launched a swift, coordinated raid on the rented accommodation. Officials confirmed that Dr. Shakeel had allegedly rented the flat just 15 days prior solely for the purpose of stashing the explosive material and weapons, a move designed to keep the terror stockpile separate from his primary residence and evade detection.
Massive Haul of Explosives and Arms
The seizure from the Faridabad apartment represents one of the largest hauls of terror material near the national capital in recent times. The recovered cache included:
- 360 kg of highly inflammable material, suspected to be Ammonium Nitrate.
- An assault rifle with multiple magazines and 83 live rounds.
- Several pistols and bomb-making equipment.
- 20 timers and four batteries, indicating plans for coordinated, synchronized attacks.
- Multiple walkie-talkie sets for communication between operatives.
The explosives were found packed in twelve large suitcases and a bucket. Police authorities stated that the recovered stockpile was sufficient to carry out large-scale devastation across Delhi-NCR and other major northern Indian cities.
JeM Link and Sleeper Cell Operation
Investigators strongly suspect that Dr. Rather and Dr. Shakeel were operating under the direct command of Jaish-e-Mohammed handlers across the border. Intelligence agencies believe that terror groups are increasingly leveraging educated, professional individuals like doctors to establish deep-rooted sleeper cells in northern India, capitalizing on their ability to blend seamlessly into civilian life and avoid suspicion.
Faridabad Commissioner of Police, Satender Kumar Gupta, confirmed that the bust successfully dismantled a major terror network. Forensic experts have been deployed to analyze the seized material to confirm its exact chemical composition and origin.
Ongoing Probe Expands
The investigation has now expanded across states, with authorities searching for further accomplices.
In a key development, an assault rifle linked to Dr. Muzammil was recovered from a Swift Dzire car belonging to a woman doctor employed at Al-Falah University. While the woman doctor is currently under investigation, it remains unclear whether she was fully aware of the presence of the weapon in her vehicle. Authorities believe more arrests are imminent as they work to fully neutralize the JeM module.
