The meetings took place just after the Siddaramaiah-led government completed its half-term. This milestone has renewed talk about a potential power-sharing agreement that was reportedly made between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Dy CM Shivakumar when the government formed in 2023.

Key Details of the Meeting

Mr. Shivakumar met with MLAs including KY Nanjegowda (Malluru), Kotturu Manjunath (Kolar), and Dr. Ranganath (Kunigal), along with other party leaders.

The central issue is the alleged “secret agreement” that stipulated Mr. Shivakumar would take over as CM after two and a half years.

  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah maintains that he will complete his full five-year term, stressing the mandate received from the people.

  • Dy CM Shivakumar is seen to be pushing for the agreement to be honored, though he publicly stated today, “I don’t want anything. I am not hurrying anything. My party will make the decision.”

Both senior leaders have expressed that they will abide by the decision of the Congress central leadership, known as the High Command, which is expected to make a ruling soon.

Mr. Shivakumar also mentioned that he plans to visit Delhi to discuss farmer-related issues and projects in the upcoming Parliament Winter Session.
