ABU DHABI, UAE – In a beautiful display of talent and inclusion, 15-year-old Emirati pianist and composer Ahmed Al Hashemi captivated an audience of over 500 guests with an inspiring performance at the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi.

The special event, titled “A Symphony of Harmony,” was held to celebrate the UAE’s People of Determination (individuals with disabilities) and highlighted the nation’s strong values of compassion, human connection, and inclusivity.

A Dream Performance

Ahmed Al Hashemi, who is on the autism spectrum, is already an internationally recognized artist, having represented the UAE in more than 200 performances around the world. Though he once struggled with verbal expression, he has found his powerful voice through music.

During his emotional recital, Ahmed performed eight pieces. The set blended classical masterpieces, including works by Beethoven, with his own original compositions.

• Inspired by Peace: Ahmed shared with the audience that he felt “peace and love” during an earlier visit to the Mandir. This feeling inspired him to write a letter asking to perform there.

• A Special Tribute: He performed an original piece titled ‘Dark to Light,’ which he composed as a tribute to the Mandir. This piece symbolized humanity’s journey from facing challenges toward finding harmony and inner peace.

“My first big solo in the UAE in such a meaningful place is a dream come true,” Ahmed told the gathered guests.

A Message of Courage and Unity

The event brought together UAE leaders, community figures, and families, all of whom were moved by Ahmed’s courage and musical gifts.

Swami Brahmaviharidas, the head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, praised Ahmed as a shining example of determination. He emphasized that harmony starts within each person and can be achieved through courage and compassion.

The Mandir also specially honoured Ahmed’s mother, Eiman Alaleeli, recognizing her unwavering love and support that helped her son achieve his dreams.

The evening was a powerful reminder that creativity and courage can overcome any limitation, reinforcing the BAPS Hindu Mandir’s role as a place of harmony and inclusion for all faiths and communities in the UAE.
