Akhilesh Yadav Launches Scathing Attack on BJP on Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Alleges Constitutional Threat

NEW DELHI, December 6, 2025Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav utilized the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas, the death anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, to launch a sharp political offensive against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, accusing them of attempting to dismantle India’s democratic foundations.

In a comprehensive statement posted on social media, the SP chief asserted that any effort to undermine the nation’s founding document is synonymous with an attack on its democratic structure.

“Those who want to weaken the Constitution, want to weaken democracy,” Mr. Yadav stated, alleging that the forces opposing democracy are working to establish a “one-man rule” in the country.

Championing Constitutional Slogans

Mr. Yadav framed the protection of the Constitution as a non-negotiable national duty, promoting the slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan, Jai Samvidhaan” (Hail the Soldier, Hail the Farmer, Hail the Constitution).

He described the Constitution as the “sanjeevani” (life-giving herb) and the “karma grantha” (scripture of action) of democracy, warning that “Inactivating the Constitution means inactivating freedom.”

PDA and the Call for Justice

The Samajwadi Party leader strongly linked the survival of the Constitution to the empowerment of his party’s core support base, the PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak – Backward, Dalit, Minority) alliance.

He stressed that the Constitution is the “guiding beacon of PDA” and their “protective armor,” as it is the only document that ensures dignity, justice, and protection from exploitation for the exploited and deprived 90% of the country’s population.

Mr. Yadav concluded his statement by calling for a renewed effort to safeguard the document: “If the Constitution survives, justice will survive! And justice will survive only then will everyone get equal respect, equal honor, [and] equal opportunities.” He declared that the moment warrants another “Do or Die” movement to preserve the integrity of the Constitution.

The attack comes amid a coordinated push by opposition leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who also used the day to warn that the Constitution is under threat. Mahaparinirvan Diwas is observed annually on December 6 to commemorate the death of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a towering figure of social justice.
