JAMUI (Bihar) — In a brazen act that has stunned the local administration, armed criminals targeted the residence of a former Civil Surgeon in Jamui’s Gidhaur block on Republic Day. The miscreants not only looted the home but also used medical sedatives to incapacitate the entire family, including the prominent doctor, his wife, and their son.
Attack on Republic Day Morning
The incident occurred early on Monday morning when at least five masked, armed men broke into the home of Dr. Vijendra Satyarthi. According to local reports, the gang bypassed security by breaking the locks and held the family at gunpoint.
In a chilling escalation, the robbers allegedly injected Dr. Satyarthi and his wife, Pushpam Satyarthi, with an unknown sedative. Their son, Dr. Vikram Satyarthi, was also forcibly injected upon exiting the bathroom, causing all three to lose consciousness while the house was ransacked.
Rs 80 Lakh “Contract” Allegations
The motive behind the crime took a darker turn as Dr. Vikram Satyarthi regained partial consciousness later that morning. He revealed a terrifying conversation he overheard among the criminals.
“They claimed they had a tip about Rs 80 lakh being kept in the house,” Dr. Vikram stated. “More disturbingly, they said they were there on a contract to kill us—specifically mentioning that they were supposed to eliminate both my father and me.”
Police Investigation and Local Outrage
The crime was discovered around 8:30 a.m. when neighbors noticed suspicious activity. The victims were rushed to Sadar Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The security breach on Republic Day—a day of high alert across the state—has raised serious questions about law and order in the region. Jhajha MLA Damodar Rawat visited the site, joining local residents in demanding immediate action.
Sub-Inspector Jayprakash Singh of the Gidhaur Police Station confirmed that the investigation is active. “We are currently scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity. Statements will be officially recorded once the medical team clears the victims for questioning,” Singh said.
