GAVIÃO PEIXOTO, BRAZIL – December 19, 2025 – In a major leap toward the future of city travel, Eve Air Mobility has officially completed the first flight of its full-scale electric flying taxi prototype.

The successful test took place today at Embraer’s flight testing facility in Brazil. This “uncrewed” (remote-controlled) flight marks the first time the company’s full-sized aircraft has left the ground, moving from computer designs and scale models to a real, working machine.

What Happened During the Flight?

The prototype successfully performed a “hover” test, where it lifted vertically off the ground and stayed steady in the air. This test was crucial because it proved that the aircraft’s complex “brain”—its fly-by-wire flight control system—works exactly as expected.

Engineers monitored how the aircraft’s eight lifting rotors and its energy systems responded in real-time. According to Eve’s CEO, Johann Bordais, the performance perfectly matched the company’s scientific predictions.

Why This is a Big Deal

Eve is backed by Embraer, the world’s third-largest airplane manufacturer. While many companies are trying to build flying taxis (known as eVTOLs), Eve’s success is significant because:

  • It’s Full-Scale: This isn’t a small toy or a model; it’s the actual size the final taxi will be.

  • Smart Design: The aircraft uses a “Lift + Cruise” system. It has eight rotors for taking off like a helicopter and a “pusher” propeller at the back to fly forward like a plane.

  • Quiet and Clean: Being 100% electric, it is nearly silent compared to a helicopter and produces zero emissions.

What’s Next?

This flight is just the beginning. Eve plans to build six more prototypes in 2026 to undergo hundreds of tests. They will gradually move from hovering to “transition flight”—where the taxi switches from going up to going forward at high speeds.

If everything stays on track, Eve hopes to receive official safety certification by 2027. With nearly 3,000 pre-orders already on the books from airlines and taxi companies around the world, you might be booking your first “aerial Uber” in just a few years.

Quick Specs of the Eve eVTOL:

  • Capacity: 4 passengers (growing to 6 in the future).

  • Range: 60 miles (100 km), perfect for skipping city traffic.

  • Noise: 90% quieter than a traditional helicopter.

  • Launch Goal: Official service entry in 2027.
