HYDERABAD: In a major success against forgery, the Madhapur Special Operations Team (SOT) police have busted an illegal operation in Gachibowli, arresting a gang responsible for manufacturing a wide range of fake documents. A large cache of counterfeit papers and printing equipment was seized during the raid.

The Forgery Hub

 

According to the police, the gang was operating out of a seemingly ordinary Xerox center in Indira Nagar, Gachibowli, which they had converted into a hub for illegal activities.

The three primary accused, identified as Mohammed, Sajid, and Rajiv, used the center to print and create professional-looking counterfeit documents for a price.

Types of Fake Documents Seized

 

The documents being forged were extensive, covering both educational and official government papers, including:

• Educational Certificates: Fake marks memos and degree certificates from various educational institutions.

• Government Documents: Counterfeit PAN cards and police verification certificates.

• Business Documents: Bogus way bills (used for goods transportation) and fake experience certificates for job seekers.

Police Action and Warning

 

The SOT police quickly identified the gang’s activities, leading to the arrest of the three main perpetrators. In addition, nine individuals who had allegedly procured the fake certificates from the gang were also taken into custody for interrogation. This brings the total number of people arrested and detained in the case to twelve.

ACP Sridhar, speaking on the operation, issued a strong warning to the public. He urged citizens to be vigilant against such fraudulent schemes and cautioned them against resorting to illegal means to obtain documents, as it carries severe legal consequences.

The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the extent of the gang’s network and the number of people who may have benefited from their illicit service
