“Attack on Democracy”

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, KTR termed the late-night arrests of media professionals as a direct assault on the fourth pillar of democracy. He stated that the Revanth Reddy-led government is systematically targeting those who question its “failed promises” and “administrative incompetence.”

“Arresting journalists in the middle of the night for simply reporting public opinion is a sign of cowardice. Is this the ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ that Rahul Gandhi talks about?” KTR questioned during a press conference today.

The Controversy Behind the Arrests

The arrests follow a series of cases filed against digital media journalists and YouTube news creators who reportedly shared videos of citizens expressing grievances against the state government. KTR highlighted that the police overreach in these cases is alarming and reminiscent of the “Dark Days of Emergency.”

Key Highlights of KTR’s Statement:

  • Abuse of Power: KTR alleged that the police are being used as “political tools” to silence dissenting voices.

  • Targeting Digital Media: He noted that YouTube channels and digital portals, which provide a platform for rural voices, are being specifically targeted.

  • Legal Fight: The BRS leader announced that his party would provide full legal support to the arrested journalists and fight the “illegal cases” in court.

Growing Tensions in Telangana Politics

The political atmosphere in Telangana has been heating up as the opposition BRS continues to highlight issues ranging from farmer distress to the recent replacement of rural employment schemes. The arrest of journalists has added fuel to the fire, with various press clubs and media associations across Hyderabad also voicing their concerns.

KTR demanded the immediate release of the detained journalists and called for the withdrawal of all “fabricated” FIRs. He warned that the people of Telangana would not tolerate such “autocratic behavior” for long.
