NEW DELHI — The public fallout between Olympic bronze medalist MC Mary Kom and her former husband, Karung Onkholer (Onler), has taken a volatile turn. Just days after the six-time world champion broke her silence on their 2023 divorce, Onler Karong has issued a stinging rebuttal, categorically denying allegations of financial misconduct and leveling explosive counter-accusations of infidelity against the boxing icon.
“I Was Use and Throw”: Onler Denies ₹5 Crore Fraud
Responding to Mary Kom’s recent claims that he cheated her out of crores of rupees and mortgaged her properties without consent, Onler spoke to news agency IANS to set the record abroad.
“She mentioned the property and asked my name to be erased. She said I stole ₹5 crores. Check my account,” Onler challenged. He pointed to his current living situation as evidence against the claims of wealth. “I am staying in a rented house in Delhi. She is a celebrity; whatever she says, some will listen, and some won’t.”
Onler expressed deep emotional hurt, claiming he was the one who “planted the seeds” of her boxing academy, only to be sidelined. “I can forgive her, but I’ll never forget what she has done to me. I’m like ‘use and throw’ for her.”
Explosive Claims of Extramarital Affairs
In a move that has stunned the sporting community, Onler alleged that the primary reason for their marital discord was Mary Kom’s involvement in multiple relationships. According to Onler, the issues date back over a decade:

2013 Allegation: Onler claimed Mary had an affair with a junior boxer, which led to a family confrontation and a subsequent compromise.

2017–Present: He further alleged that since 2017, the boxer has been in a relationship with an individual associated with the Mary Kom Boxing Academy.

The Proof: Onler asserted that he possesses WhatsApp messages as evidence. “I have proof, with the name of the person. I remained silent for the sake of the family, but if she is to blame me, bring the papers.”
Mary Kom’s Stance: “I Was Living a Lie”
These counter-claims follow Mary Kom’s emotional interview where she described her marriage as the “darkest phase” of her life. The boxing legend alleged that her 2022 injury was a “blessing in disguise” as it forced her to look into her finances for the first time in 20 years.
“I realized I was living a lie,” she told PTI earlier this week. She accused Onler of taking loans from locals in Manipur using her land as collateral, leading to the property being seized by underground groups. Regarding the affair rumors, Mary Kom had previously clarified in an official statement and on Aap Ki Adalat that her business manager, Hitesh Choudhary, only entered her life professionally after her separation.

The couple, who married in 2005 and share four children, were once seen as a symbol of domestic support in Indian sports. With both sides now trading accusations of financial betrayal and infidelity, the legal battle over their assets and the custody of their children appears set to move from the court of public opinion to the Lok Adalat.
“I don’t mind if she wants to move on or have another husband,” Onler concluded. “But don’t ever blame me for things I didn’t do.”
