MUMBAI, February 13, 2026 – The Mumbai film industry is on high alert after Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty received a harrowing audio threat allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message, which surfaced Friday, warns of “consequences that seven generations will remember,” escalating a series of extortion attempts against the actor.
‘Targeting the Staff’: A Sinister Shift in Tactics
The latest threat, sent via a WhatsApp voice note, has been traced by the Mumbai Crime Branch to an operative identified as Harry Boxer (also known as Hari Boxer), a notorious associate of the jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Unlike previous demands focusing solely on financial extortion, this message takes a more personal and dangerous turn:
-
Targeting Employees: The sender claimed to have “complete details” of Ranveer Singh’s managers and staff, including their home addresses and daily routines.
-
The Ultimatum: The operative warned that if the actor does not “fall in line,” the gang will begin killing his staff members one by one.
-
The Provocation: The audio accuses Singh of “going back on his word” and allegedly encouraging Rohit Shetty to file a police complaint following a firing incident outside Shetty’s residence in January.
“We will show you the punishment for backing out. Fall in line, or you will see what we do to you later,” the translated transcript of the voice note warns.
Mumbai Crime Branch Probe and Security Heightened
The Mumbai Police have taken formal cognizance of the recording. Preliminary forensic analysis suggests the voice belongs to Boxer, and the message was likely routed through a VPN from an overseas location to evade detection.
-
Interpol Assistance: Reports indicate that Mumbai Police are seeking help from Interpol to trace the exact digital origin of the threat.
-
MCOCA Invoked: The authorities have already invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against several gang members in related cases.
-
Security Blanket: Security at the South Mumbai residence shared by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone has been significantly bolstered. Private armed guards have been deployed alongside Mumbai Police personnel, despite concerns raised by their residential society regarding firearms in common areas.
Bollywood Under the Shadow of Lawrence Bishnoi
This incident is part of a broader “intimidation campaign” by the Bishnoi syndicate. Recent targets include:
-
Aayush Sharma: Salman Khan’s brother-in-law recently received a threatening email via an encrypted Proton Mail account.
-
Salman Khan: The primary target of the gang for years, who faced a shooting incident outside his Bandra home in 2024.
-
Rohit Shetty: The filmmaker’s Juhu residence was the site of a five-round firing incident just weeks ago.
Political Backlash
The recurring threats have sparked a political firestorm. The Opposition Congress has slammed the Maharashtra government, citing these threats as a “total collapse of law and order” in the state’s capital.
Ranveer Singh is currently preparing for the release of his high-octane action film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, slated for March 19, 2026. Ironically, the film features Singh as an undercover agent dismantling terror networks—a role that now mirrors the real-life security crisis surrounding the star.
