HYDERABAD – Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday declared that the state government’s future policies and welfare programs would be guided by the “inspiration” of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and the “vision” of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The event coincided with the birthday of the former Congress President, Sonia Gandhi.
A Tribute on a Historic Day
CM Reddy underscored the significance of the date, December 9, stating the state government had decided to celebrate the day as ‘Telangana Talli Avatarana Dinotsawam’.

The Statehood Announcement: He recalled that it was on December 9, 2009, that the then Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram, announced the initiation of the process for the formation of the Telangana state, a decision taken under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh during the UPA regime.

Fulfilling the Promise: Reddy lauded Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the decades-old aspiration of the Telangana people for statehood, despite facing numerous political challenges and objections. He stated her decision brought “happiness and self-respect” to the state’s citizens.

Dual Celebration: “It is a matter of immense happiness for me, my cabinet colleagues, and other Congress leaders that December 9 is also the birthday of Sonia Gandhi,” the Chief Minister said.
Vision for Governance
Chief Minister Reddy promised that the Congress government’s administration would be modelled on the principles espoused by the two senior leaders who oversaw the creation of the state.
“Sonia Gandhi’s inspiration, Manmohan Singh’s vision would be implemented in our welfare and development programmes, in our governance, and in our hearts forever,” he affirmed.
By celebrating this day and invoking the names of the two leaders, CM Reddy sought to connect the Congress party’s current rule with the foundational sentiment of the separate Telangana movement and its successful fruition in 2014. The installation of the ‘Telangana Thalli’ statues symbolises the state government’s commitment to fulfil the aspirations of all sections of society, including SCs, STs, BCs, and Minorities.
