UAE: Four Young Indian Expat Brothers Killed in Abu Dhabi Car Crash Laid to Rest Side-by-Side in Dubai

DUBAI – January 6, 2026 – In a scene of profound grief, hundreds of mourners gathered at the Al Qusais Cemetery in Muhaisnah on Tuesday afternoon to bid a final farewell to four young Indian brothers who lost their lives following a devastating car accident in Abu Dhabi.

The four siblings—Ashaz (14), Ammaar (12), Azzam (7), and Ayyash (5)—were buried side-by-side after a funeral service attended by family, friends, and members of the Kerala expat community.

Details of the Tragedy

The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 4, near the Shahama area on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai motorway. The family, originally from Malappuram, Kerala, was returning to their home in Dubai after attending the Liwa International Festival in the Al Dhafra region.

According to reports, the family’s vehicle lost control and overturned. Three of the brothers—Ashaz, Ammaar, and Ayyash—along with the family’s domestic worker, Bushra, died at the scene. The fourth brother, 7-year-old Azzam, succumbed to his critical injuries on Monday evening at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), raising the sibling death toll to four.

Survivors and Community Support

The boys’ parents, Abdul Latheef and Ruksana, survived the crash but sustained serious injuries. Abdul Latheef attended the funeral on Tuesday in a wheelchair, supported by relatives, as he watched his four sons being laid to rest. One other sibling, 10-year-old Ezzaa, is also recovering from injuries.

Hundreds of people, including relatives, friends and community members, gathered for an emotional funeral of the boys in Dubai on Tuesday afternoon.

The mortal remains of the domestic worker, Bushra, have been repatriated to her hometown in Kerala for her final rites.

Community in Mourning

Social workers and community leaders have expressed their deepest condolences to the family. “This is an unimaginable loss for any parent,” said a community volunteer assisting the family with legal procedures. “The entire Indian community in the UAE stands in solidarity with Abdul Latheef and Ruksana during this dark time.”

The Liwa Festival is a popular winter destination, but the tragedy has sparked renewed calls for road safety vigilance during long-distance travel across the Emirates.
